Jimmer Fredette leads AP All-America teamJimmer Fredette of BYU led the way in voting for the AP All-America team with 64 votes of a possible 65 from the national media members that also vote for the Top 25 college basketball teams each week during the season. Joining Fredette were two other seniors in Duke point guard Nolan Smith who received 61 votes and Purdue big man JaJuan Johnson who received 44 votes. Junior point guard Kemba Walker from UConn also made the team with 51 votes and freshman phenom Jared Sullinger from Ohio State joined the upper classmen with 58 votes. The voting took place before the NCAA Tournament and rewards regular season excellence.

The Duke University Blue Devils get the In Your Face treatmentDV and Chris get down with the inaugural edition of In Your Face, a weekly feature (most likely on Fridays) where they call out a player, coach, and/or team. This week, the Duke University Blue Devils and New York Knicks get the In Your Face treatment. Duke is no longer in the NCAA Tournament after losing to the Arizona Wildcats and it's sweetness for about 99% of the population. The New York Knicks traded for Carmelo Anthony and it's not looking so good. The EndScore Report recently reviewed the trade, but the team's losing streak and the Denver Nuggets' winning ways was just too noteworthy not to give the Knicks an In Your Face. Listen to the gloating and sadness.

Chad CorderoA lot has been made of the Toronto Blue Jays’ closer situation this offseason, from losing Kevin Gregg, potential ninth-inning man Scott Downs and one-time 30-save guy Jeremy Accardo to reaching a deal with Toronto main-stay Jason Frasor to the acquisitions of Frank Francisco, Octavio Dotel and Jon Rauch. That’s a lot of star power both leaving and entering Toronto’s bullpen. But what few have been talking about is another pick up in former Washington Nationals closer Chad Cordero.

Jim ThomeIn past baseball eras, certain statistics virtually guaranteed a player admittance to the Hall of Fame. 300 wins for a pitcher is a benchmark, but many have started to question whether the time of the 300-win pitcher is over. Similarly, but getting less attention is the 500-home-run plateau for hitters. Only 25 players in history have reached that mark, and every one of those eligible have a place in the Hall of Fame. Three of those 25 are currently active.

Buck Showalter calls out Derek Jeter and Theo EpsteinDV and Chris discuss the motives, background, and validity of Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter's statements about Derek Jeter and Theo Epstein. Naturally, Showalter would say something about AL East rival teams, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. When you consider that he's lost two jobs (Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks) because he would alienate his players and management, going after someone outside of the organization is a breath of fresh air. Does Showalter make good arguments? Hear what we have to say.

Steven StamkosIf the NHL playoffs began today, the Tampa Bay Lightning would enter as the fifth-seeded team in the east, taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Only two Eastern Conference playoff teams have scored more goals this season than the Lightning, but none have given up nearly as many as they have. In fact, with 216 goals for and 222 against, the Lightning are the only of the top eight teams in the east to give up more goals than they’ve scored.

David Wright and Jose Reyes during happier timesIn this edition of the EndScore Report, DV and Chris talk about the recent transactions made by the New York Mets in cutting Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo. If the Mets are rebuilding, and it seems that they are, should GM Sandy Alderson consider trading David Wright and Jose Reyes, players who were deemed as the nucleus of the team's future? The podcasting duo also talk about the current team owners, Fred and Jeff Wilpon, whom they think should sell the team in order to truly begin anew. But who will buy in? DV and Chris talk about some interesting possiblities. Agree or disagree, feel free to leave comments below! Listen to the audio magic!

Luis CastilloNobody expected it to take very long for deposed second baseman Luis Castillo to find work. The mere fact that the New York Mets – who released him last Friday – will pick up the tab for whichever team asks for his services suggested that. That theory was proven correct on Monday when the Philadelphia Phillies signed Castillo to a 10-day contract. They were also very clear in informing Castillo that this was a trial contract. If he doesn’t prove himself good enough in that time frame, they’ll release him outright.

Matt CookeMatt Cooke is relentless. He seems to have a vampiric lust for brains and will stop at nothing to see them oozing out of his opponent’s ears after delivering a vicious head shot. His latest infraction came on Sunday when he laid out New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh with his elbow, effectively challenging NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell to either start a new chapter in punishment for the kind of hits nobody wants to see, or let history repeat itself by doling out a meaningless penalty.
